Student-Visa

A student visa is a special endorsement affixed to a government passport provided to students enrolled in accredited educational institutions. Non-immigrant visas for students do not need the bearer to attain citizenship.

Any prospective student who wants to pursue higher education in another nation must first get a student visa. Here, we will discuss Student visa Australia and how you can apply for the same.

Most nations will grant student visas to allow international students to attend school within their borders. In most situations, however, the student must first enroll in a post-secondary school of higher learning.

So, if you’re from another nation and want to travel to the United States to study, you’ll need both of these visas:

  • A non-immigrant visa for a brief visit or an immigrant visa for permanent residency
  • A student visa is required.

The Australian government offers all Indian students the option to study nationwide. Still, you must first secure a student visa to enter the country and begin your studies. The type of visa you require will be determined by the course level, nature of the study, and program duration.

You would need a student (subclass 500) visa as an international student, regardless of your subject of study, the university you apply to, or the tuition rates.

How to Apply for Student Visa for Australia?

If you intend to study in Australia for an extended period, you must apply for a student visa. We walk you through the application process step by step here.

  • Apply to a school in Australia and get a copy

You must be enrolled in an Australian school before applying for a student visa to Australia. When you get an offer letter from a school, accept it in writing, and pay the tuition deposit, the school will issue you a CoE or Confirmation of Enrolment.

This paper is required to commence your visa application. If you want to enroll in multiple programs, such as a preparatory language course followed by college studies, you will need one CoE for each.

  • Create an account with the Australian immigration authorities

For Australian visas, you usually apply online. To begin your visa application, you must create an account at https://online.immi.gov.au/lusc/register.

  • Documents in Digital Format

You will need the following papers to apply for a student visa:

  1. CoE
  2. OSHC Health Insurance
  3. Proof of temporary stay
  •  Online Visa Application

You should apply for a subclass 500 student visa. The application must be submitted at least 124 days before the commencement of your course (according to the date on your CoE). You submit your application online. More information and instructions may be found at:

  • Visa fee and TRN Number

After completing the application, you must pay the application cost, which is present AUD 575. The simplest method is to pay using a credit card online. More information on the payment may be found at https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/help-support/applying-online-or-on-paper/online/how-to-pay.

When you complete the application and payment, you will be given a receipt with a TRN number (Transaction Reference Number). Save it so you can check the progress of your application later.

  • Health Checkup & Interview

Depending on where you plan to study and reside, you may also be required to undergo a health examination and a visa interview. You will be notified when you complete the application above if this applies to you.

  • Visa Decision

The length of time it takes to receive a visa determination depends on where you apply and how busy the Australian immigration offices are. In our experience, after completing your application, you should receive a decision within one or two weeks.

  • Travel to Australia

You can enter Australia 90 days before the course start date written on your CoE if you have your visa. If you have not arranged housing via your school, you must notify them of your address in Australia within 7 days of your arrival.
